Welcome to Calca Park Stud A lifelong passion for beautiful Welsh Ponies is the basis for our boutique Stud. Ideally situated in Avenel, Victoria, Australia in the foothills of the Strathbogie Ranges already well known for the past breeding of Nattai Ponies and popular with breeders of Thoroughbred , Standardbred and Performance Horses. We are delighted to announce that Weston Park Mercury, the beautiful Buckskin Welsh Pony Stallion is now in residence and will be covering our own mares and available at public stud (to a limited book) this season.
	Our aim is to breed top quality Welsh ponies that are well conformed with kind temperaments. With a willingness to be involved with people they represent a versatile healthy animal who is at home in the Show ring, Pony Club or being part of the Family. In our quest to breed the ideal pony we have chosen stock from established bloodlines as the foundation for Calca Park Ponies. We have as our resident Stallion the Cremello Welsh Mountain Owendale Sunstone, who has a delightful temperament, is well up to height and full of presence. An excellent pedigree with the bloodlines of Baledon Diplomat, Clan Pip, Coed Coch Madog and Planned, Revel Playsome, Twyford Gala, Grenadier, Gurkha, Nutkin and Wernochlyn Pegasus. *With the added bonus of breeding dilutes he has been DNA tested and does not carry the grey gene.* *Picture at left is Calca Park Ffansi That* *Owendale Sunstone's first foal a Palomino Filly from Nattai Ariel born in 2009.*
Our foundation Welsh Mountain mares are based on Nattai Breeding, Nattai Ariel is a Nattai Martyn daughter from Kent Park Star Fairy and Yarrandale Fable is line-bred to Coed Coch Proffwyd (IMP). Owendale Sunstones first three foals are fillies from these girls (-yes we were pleased) and for 2011 both delivered delightful colts, a palomino and a buckskin -see foal page. Our Foundation Welsh pony mares started with the purchase of the weanling filly Owendale Tigermoth by Owendale Black Forrest a son of Sir Percy Of Paxhall (IMP UK) out of the beautiful mare Hazelmere Rhayada. Soon the yearling Owendale Angel by Baughurst William Of Orange (IMP UK) arrived with Arielen Willow by Sianwood Silversmith (IMP UK), Foxmoor Figigli by Weston Gigli (IMP UK), Myscal Ladybird by Downland Warrior (IMP UK) and Karanga Maddison by Imperial Tennessee out of Karanga Minnesota. We have chosen Cherrington Damascus of Beauparc Stud, Seymour, who is a Multi Royal Supreme Champion to cover our Welsh Ponies and Part-Welsh mares. A beautiful Chestnut Stallion with chrome, he has lovely bloodlines being sired by Imperial Jericoe and out of the Keston Royal Occasion (IMP UK) daughter Llanfechan Rosemary Rose.
